2016 was devoted to researching the homeless veteran situation in the Eastern portion of Maryland. I have worked slowly to evaluate the homeless issues in the eastern
counties of the State of Maryland. Particularly in Cecil County and Howard County have been areas of special attention since I was working in those areas for another company.
We have found similarities and differences in the plight of veterans in the locality. The Counties that are nexus of activity like the town of Elkton in Cecil County, Jessup and other towns in Howard County sees the movement of veterans to and from Prince George’s, Baltimore and Montgomery Counties. As a result, all Counties along the Rte. 1 corridor see a flow of activity.
We are currently in a fund drive to reach a level such that we can acquire houses in target counties, bring the homeless veterans in from the cold, provide shower and bed and then provide training to re-integrate into our society. I will be putting the 10 years in the Howard County Department of Housing and Community Development to good use. God willing, we will be able to help them re-enter the society and achieve a part of the American Dream.
